Final rehearsals of the long-awaited pre-new year premiere of "Morozko" begin at the National Centre RUSSIA
Grand rehearsals for the major New Year premiere — the
original multi-genre show "Morozko" — have begun on the main stage of
the National Centre RUSSIA. This unique production will remind viewers of all
generations that the most important miracle is love and mutual understanding
within the family. The first showing of the New Year story will take place very
soon — on 28 December.
The multi-stage and meticulous work of the show's team —
from conveying the concept to learning musical parts and choreography — is
complete, and the time has come for the most important stage: weaving all the
elements together on the platform intended for the premiere, and infusing it
with the energy of the upcoming magic.
On the final stretch, the rehearsals will take place daily:
the artists will perfect the key episodes of the show and polish their
mastering of interactive content; technical specialists will check the
readiness of stage mechanisms and sound — and this coming Sunday, 28 December,
the audience will be able to fully immerse themselves in a fascinating journey
through Russian fairy tales.
The family-friendly showings of "Morozko"
reinterpret the classic story of the girl Nastenka and Morozko (Father Frost),
telling it in the language of the 21st century. As noted by the author of the
idea, Bolshoi Theatre principal dancer Igor Tsvirko, he was inspired to create
the production by the happy faces of children and his niece Maryana during last
year's performance of "The Nutcracker" at the National Centre RUSSIA.
"Morozko" at the National Centre RUSSIA is a
unique fusion of traditional art and innovation. The multi-genre production
unites opera, ballet, folk, contemporary choreography, and cinematic graphics
inspired by the works of Ivan Bilibin, Viktor Vasnetsov, and other famous
Russian artists. The show will feature leading artists from the Bolshoi Theatre
and the "Kremlin Ballet", soloists from the Stanislavski and
Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre, the Russian National Ballet
"Kostroma", the folk music group "Buranovskie Babushki",
actors from the Vakhtangov Theatre and the "At the Nikitsky Gates"
theatre, and other performers. Guests
will meet vivid characters — from the country's main Baba Yaga Baba Yaga (BY),
to the humorous smart speaker Anfisa. Unique designer costumes will also
become an integral part of the story and a reflection of the characters'
transformation.
Open showings of "Morozko" will take place on 28
and 30 December at 18:00, from 6 to 11 January 2026 (daily) — at 12:00, and on
14 January 2026 — at 19:00.
