Key trends in Russian golf to be discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA
The 3rd Forum of the Russian Golf Association (AGR Forum) will be held on 17 April at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event traditionally marks the start of the new golf season in the country. Participants will discuss infrastructure development, the quality of education, prospects for the introduction of new technologies, and key trends in the domestic golf industry.
The event will be opened by the President of the Russian Golf Association, Viktor Khristenko. In his address, he will highlight the role of modern technologies and innovative solutions in promoting the sport among Russians, and will also speak about measures to develop mass participation in golf and support young talented athletes. The Forum is organised by the Russian Golf Association in cooperation with the National Centre RUSSIA.
Golf in Russia is a young but rapidly developing sport. Each year, more than 180,000 people are introduced to it through sports and recreational events across the country. Russian athletes take part in more than 150 international competitions annually. At various stages of their careers, athletes from Russia have ranked among the world’s top 50 in both professional and amateur rankings. A notable achievement came at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where Maria Verchenova completed the course in 62 strokes.
Mass participation programmes have formed the foundation for elite sport, including the All-Russian School Golf League and the National Student Sports League. In 2025, the Russian Golf Association, together with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, announced the country’s first EMBA programme, "Finance and Management in the Golf Industry".
Participants of the Forum at the National Centre RUSSIA will be introduced to the new visual identity of the Russian Championships and Junior Championships, the Russian Cup, and the Junior Tour. An important part of the programme will be the "Technology" session, dedicated to the digitalisation of the golf industry. Speakers will present advanced solutions and announce large-scale projects for 2026–2027.
The Russian Golf Association was founded in 1992. It is the only nationwide public organisation that develops and supports golf through the organisation of sporting events at international, federal, and regional levels. The Association brings together amateur and professional golfers across Russia into a unified network and regulates the qualifications of coaches, athletes, and other industry professionals.
Today marks one of the main Christian holidays — the Annunciation.
