Russia has become one of the top five countries in terms of the results of schoolchildren's participation in international Olympiads: in 2023, 43 of 43 possible medals were won by children, 34 of which were gold medals. Such data was presented at the plenary session "Talking about Important: Education", which was held at the RUSSIA EXPO.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova and Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov spoke about the achievements of the Russian education system, the updating of its infrastructure and content, the development of the education system and support for the teaching community.

"This day is dedicated to every person in our big country, because education is the key to the future. Our modern education system is absolutely universal and competitive. According to the most modest estimates, if we do not count all 146 million citizens of our country, it is at least 80 million people. It is not only the students themselves, their parents and grandparents, it is also our employers who benefit from the education system. If we count the number of people working in this system, we will realize that this is a large army of teachers, educators, mentors who work with our children," said Tatyana Golikova.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia drew attention to the fact that the task to ensure the quality of general education set by the President of Russia is being successfully implemented: at the end of 2023, the planned indicator of weighted average place has been exceeded - according to international studies, it amounted to 9.6.

She also reported that since 2019, the availability of nursery facilities for children under three years of age has increased by almost 16% and amounted to 99.5% at the beginning of 2024, and the availability of preschool education for children from three to seven years of age is almost 100%.

Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov added that thanks to the implementation of the national project "Education", the quality of the infrastructure and content of the education system is changing.

"The things that have been done in our country on the instructions of the President of Russia have fundamentally changed the education system. Education is our future, and we must work together to ensure it. Since 2019, 1,676 kindergartens have been established, we have solved the issue of accessibility of preschool education. The total number of schools built since 2019 is 1552. These are new world-class schools. In two years, about 4.5 thousand schools have been renovated. This work will continue," said Sergei Kravtsov.
