Live on air with friends: an adventure at Children’s Radio for participants of the Young Tour Guides School of Russia
Participants
of the Young Tour Guides School of Russia project saw how a radio broadcast is
born and met the presenters at Children's Radio. It is the only radio station
in Russia that works specifically for children and conducts themed tours. The
children were shown the hard work behind the preparation of programmes and were
taught articulation exercises that help professional DJs tune in for a live
broadcast.
The tour
began with a visit to the studio and the editorial office; the young guides
looked into the radio station's museum, listened to stories about the
profession of a radio presenter, and familiarised themselves with the technical
side of the broadcast. However, the most interesting part began when the
children saw the presenters at work and even went on air themselves.
"I saw
real radio presenters, we even touched the golden microphone. And I also went
live on air with my friends — and it was very interesting. I will be able to
let my grandmother and grandfather listen to this broadcast," shared Fedor
Inyutkin.
During the
practical part, the children learned about special exercises for diction and
breathing used by professional presenters. For many, this experience proved
particularly valuable in the context of their future work with an audience. A
creative workshop on T-shirt painting was also organised for the participants.
The young tour guides were able to take away not only new knowledge and skills
but also handmade souvenirs.
"Today
I visited a tour at Children's Radio. We learned a lot of new things, and for
me, as a young guide of the National Centre RUSSIA, the articulation warm-up
was especially useful. After the tour, there was a workshop where we painted
T-shirts. I am very grateful to Children's Radio for such an opportunity,"
said 13-year-old Kristina Korsakova.
The tour of
Children's Radio became part of the practical programme of the Young Tour
Guides School of Russia. The project helps children and teenagers familiarise
themselves with different formats of working with an audience, master the
basics of speech technique and public speaking, and try on creative professions
— from a guide to a radio presenter.
On Monday, 4 May, the National Centre RUSSIA will be closed to visitors as the venue will hold its regular maintenance day.
The meeting was held as part of the authorial cultural and educational project "Exploring Russia".
