Projects on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island and creation of National Centre RUSSIA branch discussed in Harbin
A plenary meeting of the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental
Commission on Cooperation and Development of the Russian Far East and Northeast
China was held in the Chinese city of Harbin under the chairmanship of Deputy
Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern
Federal District Yury Trutnev. Zhang Guoqing, Vice Premier of the State Council
of the People’s Republic of China, spoke on behalf of the Chinese side. The
meeting addressed the expansion of trade and economic ties, joint projects on
Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, technological cooperation, the development of
transport and logistics infrastructure, and the development of tourism.
A branch of the National Centre RUSSIA will soon appear on
Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
"Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island is an important joint
project. In accordance with the Action Plan approved by the governments of the
two countries, we are working to develop the island. In 2026-2028, cross-border
infrastructure facilities will be commissioned. Then, as part of the second
stage, construction of financial, scientific, technological and recreational
infrastructure will begin. A branch of the National Centre RUSSIA and
Friendship Park will appear on the Russian part of the island," said Yury
Trutnev.

Virtuozova took part in the Commission meeting. Earlier, together with Governor
of the Khabarovsk Territory Dmitry Demeshin, she visited the construction site
of the future venue.
"Bolshoy Ussuriysky is a place where Russia and China
share a border. Our countries are linked by long-standing friendly relations
and common cultural values, with family at their centre. I am confident that
the branch will become a point of attraction for both Russian and Chinese
tourists," said Natalia Virtuozova.
In March this year, the Organising Committee of the National
Centre RUSSIA approved the branch project in the Khabarovsk Territory, as well
as 7 more spaces in other regions of the Russian Federation. They will all be
implemented with different construction timelines.
The plenary meeting of the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental
Commission on Cooperation and Development of the Russian Far East and Northeast
China was held ahead of the opening of the 10th Russia-China EXPO, which will
take place in Harbin from 17 to 21 May. The National Centre RUSSIA will present
its flagship project, Department Store RUSSIA, featuring goods by Russian
manufacturers from different regions of Russia.
The National Centre RUSSIA team, led by Director General Natalia Virtuozova, visited the main landmarks of Harbin.
