The National Centre RUSSIA continues its new project — a podcast series titled "Tell Me About Victory," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and to the heroes whose feats will forever remain in the memory of generations.

In the fifth episode, the guest was Irina Losik — granddaughter of Marshal of Armoured Forces, Hero of the Soviet Union Oleg Alexandrovich Losik. He actively participated in the Battle of Stalingrad, as well as the Smolensk, Yelnya, Belarusian and East Prussian operations.

His military career began when he proved himself during the Soviet-Finnish War and became a commander at the age of 20.

"My grandfather ended the Great Patriotic War at the age of 28, already a colonel and Hero of the Soviet Union. He was always a role model for our whole family. Being the granddaughter of a marshal means living up to a high standard. I was raised with both discipline and love. Oleg Alexandrovich was just and courageous," Irina Losik recalled.

Marshal Losik once said: "Victory must be achieved not by numbers, but by skill." His granddaughter shared that he valued the lives of his subordinates and tried to avoid unnecessary risks.

Victory Day is a sacred holiday in the Losik family. For 18 consecutive years, Oleg Alexandrovich led the Armoured Forces Academy in the Victory Parade on Red Square. He served as its head.

The marshal’s granddaughter also shared the story of how her grandparents met. They were together for 53 years. Oleg Losik lived a long life and passed away at the age of 96.
