"I recommend everyone come here" — Denis Prudnik on the "Geography Lessons" exposition
The "Geography Lessons" exposition at the National Centre shows that geography is not only about maps and school textbook chapters. The exposition brings together the history of the country’s development, modern technology and interactive formats that make learning truly engaging for visitors of all ages. Denis Prudnik, aerospace engineer, populariser of cosmonautics, founder of the "Space for Everyone" blog and lecturer of the Russian society Znanie, spoke about this and also shared his impressions of the National Centre RUSSIA.
"The exposition impressed me with its systematic approach. It will be especially attractive to young people. I recommend everyone come here. And I think educational and outreach projects should be held precisely at the National Centre. It does not matter whether they are about geography, other disciplines or other topics; I think this is what it was created for — so that we understand the scale and grandeur of our country. It is a meaningful point of attraction both for tourists coming to Moscow and for residents of the capital," Denis Prudnik said.
"Geography Lessons" is a large-scale project of the National Centre RUSSIA. It is a journey through the centuries: from ancient scrolls to digital maps, from the first geographical discoveries to space exploration and the transport systems of the future. The National Centre RUSSIA has brought together unique cartographic materials from the country’s leading repositories — the Russian State Library, the Russian Geographical Society, the archives of the Ministry of Defence, universities and research centres.
Visitors can see the exposition as part of a group by registering on the National Centre RUSSIA website, or explore it independently using an audio guide.
The children’s quest "The Secret of the Lost Map" will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA every Sunday from 10 May to 5 July.
