This week, from July 4 to 7, in Pavilion No. 36, on the premises of the Museum of Cinema the Friendship of Peoples Film Festival will be held in honor of Russia's presidency in the CIS and the festival of the same name at VDNH. Special screenings and lectures devoted to the cinematography in the evacuation are waiting for the guests.
Even in the hardest times people of art continue their work. During the Great Patriotic War, film directors, cameramen and actors continued their work: both in besieged Leningrad and in defending Moscow. Filming continued even during the battles - the result was more than 100 feature films that have entered the golden fund of national cinema. What are these movies and what amazing stories stand behind their creation will be told in lectures from the series "Cinema in Evacuation" by Stanislav Lugovoy, a Museum of Cinema employee and film historian. The schedule of the Republic Days within the festival is as follows: July 4 — Day of Tashkent Film Studio, July 5 — Day of the Central United Film Studio (Alma-Ata), July 6 – Day of the Stalinabad Film Studio (Dushanbe), July 7 — Day of the Ashgabat Film Studio.
The guests are expected to see such Soviet films as "Two Fighters" (directed by L. Lukov, 1943, USSR), "Nasreddin in Bukhara" (directed by Y. Protazanov, 1943), "The Prince and the Beggar" (directed by E. Garin, H. Lokshina, 1942, USSR), "How Steel Was Tempered" (directed by M. Donskoy, 1942) and others. Detailed schedule can be seen on the website of the Museum of Cinema.
Also, at the festival there will be a meeting with Emma Malaya, costume designer, senior researcher, keeper of the fund of film-photography and object-memorial fund of the Museum of Cinema. She will tell about her childhood spent in evacuation, about her father, the film director Rafail Perelstein and about her participation in the shooting of Mark Donskoy's picture "Rainbow".
In addition, the Museum of Cinema is currently hosting a costume exposition "The Energy of Love. In Memory of the Teacher" by students of the School Studio of the Moscow Art Theater. The exposition is dedicated to the anniversary and memory of the People's Artist of Russia Eleonora Petrovna Maklakova, the founder of the Department of Stage Costume of the Faculty of Stage Design and Theater Technology of the Moscow Art Theatre School.
