Khorovod of Unity opens the III All-Russian Wedding Festival in Yugra
On 8 July, the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra is hosting the main wedding event of the year — the III All-Russian Wedding Festival "Uniting Hearts". The ceremonial programme opened with the unique production "Khorovod. Uniting Hearts". Newlyweds from Nyagan, choreographers Yuri Osovin and Viktoria Khmyrova, took part in the production.
"It means a great deal to us that on our wedding day we have the opportunity to take part in a choreographic production. Especially together with our own group and our students. We are very happy to share this important moment in our family life with them. It is very moving, because our love began with dance and our 'Divertissement'," the newlyweds said.
For Yuri and Viktoria, this performance was particularly special. They once met at a choreography studio, have now been together for three years, lead a dance group and promote folk culture. In January 2025, Yuri proposed to Viktoria during a concert in front of the entire audience.
Today, they are taking part in the khorovod together with their students — 14 young performers from the studio. The children travelled specially to Khanty-Mansiysk to support their newlywed teachers and perform on the same stage with them. Their appearance became a symbol of continuity and unity.
"We want to express all our gratitude to our teachers for everything they have taught us. Our dance conveys feelings that cannot be expressed in words. We are very happy that they are our teachers and proud of them. This event will remain in our hearts forever," young performer Eva Tselishcheva said.
Khorovod is part of the culture of the National Centre RUSSIA and has already become a cherished tradition, serving as a symbol of harmony and unity. The production is based on the legend of the Great Khorovod of the Peoples. Long ago, a Russian blacksmith and a Khanty beauty met in a khorovod around a sacred oak tree. Their hands touched in the dance — and love was born. A year later, the peoples gathered again to bless their wedding. It is said that eternal love is born from such unity.
The Khorovod of Unity set the tone for the entire celebration: in the Year of the Young Family in Yugra and the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, the dance became a reminder that love and family are the main values that unite everyone.
