The Young Journalists School of the National Centre RUSSIA has completed its intake: applications and creative submissions from teenagers dreaming of a career in media were accepted until 18 February. Over the course of one and a half months, the organisers received more than 1,600 creative works from more than 900 applicants.

Candidates for admission to the project were required not simply to complete an application form, but to truly present themselves. The participants wrote heartfelt essays about their love for their country and their vision of Russia’s future, spoke about the important role of the National Centre RUSSIA, and in short self-presentation videos sincerely answered the question: "Why should I become a participant in the School?". Each application became a unique story of talent, dreams and the desire to learn from the best.

Experts will review the submissions, after which the final list of those who will be able to take part in the project will be formed. The first classes will begin on 1 March — on Children’s Television and Radio Day.

The project "Young Journalists School" was created at the National Centre RUSSIA to help teenagers aged 12 to 17 take their first steps in the profession and shape a new generation of media specialists. The programme includes five modules and covers everything future journalists, bloggers and media managers need: in-depth study of the Russian language, the basics of journalism and media literacy, professional ethics, the development of analytical thinking, and the creation of multimedia content.

Young journalists will meet experts from leading federal media outlets and media holdings, while practical sessions will take place at the "Space of Opportunities" venue of the Movement of the First. Participants will cover key events of the National Centre RUSSIA, visit the editorial offices of major news agencies, television channels and publications, and develop their own media projects in teams.

Before the start of the educational process, applicants to the project "Young Journalists School" will go through a series of final stages. On 22 February, the lists of candidates admitted to in-person selection will be approved. From 23 to 27 February, participants will attend interviews and write a competitive essay. The names of the future students of the School will be announced on 28 February.

In-person training will run from 1 March to 30 June. Upon completion, graduates will receive a certificate of programme completion, their first professional portfolio with publications on media platforms, and the opportunity to undertake internships in major media projects, including the press service of the National Centre RUSSIA. The main bonus will be a recommendation for university admission and promotion on social media.

"Young Journalists School" is an original project of the National Centre RUSSIA. The co-organiser is the Movement of the First. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia. Programme partners include the ANO "Dialogue" and the New Media Workshop. The strategic partner is the Russian Children and Youth Centre.
