Voting for symbols for the 1000-ruble banknote has concluded
The voting
for symbols for the 1000-ruble banknote has concluded. It was organized on the
website of the Bank of Russia with the support of the National Centre RUSSIA.
Citizens of the country selected symbols for the reverse side of the banknote
dedicated to the Volga Federal District.
The
preferences of participants were distributed among 25 objects of the federal
district that were included in the voting. The highest number of votes was
received by the high-speed passenger hydrofoil "Meteor," the Palace
of Land Owners, the Saratov Automobile Bridge over the Volga, the monument to
Salavat Yulaev, the main building of Kazan Federal University, the Zhiguli
Hydroelectric Station, the Monument to the Mother Protectress, the State
Memorial and Architectural Complex "Museum-Estate of P.I.
Tchaikovsky," the State Lermontov Museum-Reserve "Tarkhany," and
the Mordovian Republican Museum of Fine Arts named after S.D. Erzia.
"The
next step is up to the artists of the Bank of Russia and Goznak. They need to
create a harmonious composition of the symbols that received the most votes
while integrating these symbols with security features," noted the Chair
of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina. "Which symbols will take centre
stage, and which will be in the background? How many symbols will be included,
and what can be depicted as micro-images? These decisions will first be made by
our artists. They will develop sketches. The final version, which will form the
basis for the new banknote, will be chosen by the Board of Directors of the
Bank of Russia."
The Bank of
Russia plans to present the updated 1000-ruble banknote at the end of next year
at the National Centre RUSSIA, in collaboration with which the voting was
organized. The obverse side of the banknote, featuring views of Nizhny
Novgorod, was introduced last year and will remain unchanged.
Updated 100
and 5000-ruble banknotes have already been issued. The Bank of Russia plans to
modernize the 10, 50, and 500-ruble banknotes. The selection of symbols for
these banknotes will also involve expert communities and take into account
public voting.
The
National Centre RUSSIA was established by Presidential Directive to preserve
