"I Wish for Fame": satirical comedy about the price of dreams premieres at the National Centre RUSSIA
Formulate your dreams correctly: this is the key lesson the protagonist of the film "I Wish for Fame" will remember, following its premiere screening held on 27 March at the National Centre RUSSIA. The Russian film directed by Alexandra Frank, created in the genre of satirical social comedy, will symbolically be released nationwide on April Fool’s Day, 1 April.
"We all see what is happening: children spend a lot of time on the internet, often without proper supervision, and it is not always clear who they interact with or what influence is being exerted on them. As a result, this can lead to serious consequences. In this sense, the film raises the issue of the need for live communication within the family and of parents paying attention to their children," noted the film’s producer and director Alexandra Frank.
At the centre of the story is Mitya, a recent school graduate who dreams of fame and universal recognition. An accidental traffic accident filmed by a phone camera, unexpectedly turns him into a hero of the news. However, rapid popularity becomes a trap: the young man finds himself at the centre of a media race where television producers control his fate. Mitya becomes a tool for boosting ratings, while his personal story turns into an endless talk show. Whether the teenager will be able to break free from this whirlwind before he is finally "buried" on air — this is what the audience at the premiere screening at the National Centre RUSSIA discovered first.
The key roles were performed by Ivan Okhlobystin, Sergei Rost, Artyom Lyashenko, Vyacheslav Manucharov, Dina Korzun, and Alexandra Kuzenkina. After the screening, the participants in the project spoke to the audience about the making of the film and shared engaging stories from the set.
The premiere screening was attended by representatives of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia and the Ministry of Culture, deputies of the State Duma, leading producers and experts of the film industry, as well as well-known actors Steven Seagal, Olga Drozdova, and others.
