Ways to boost tourism in the Far East discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA in Primorye
Issues of tourism development in the Far East were discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region. The roundtable session focused on creating a register of tour operators specialising in children’s travel and on the importance of developing tourism infrastructure. The event brought together representatives of the regional Ministry of Tourism and the local travel industry.
Experts raised questions about cooperation with executive authorities, engagement with industry representatives, and compliance with legislative requirements. Minister of Tourism of the Primorye region Natalia Naboychenko reminded participants that tour guides must undergo mandatory certification and hold an official permit. The regional ministry strictly monitors this process. According to her, tour companies should discontinue cooperation with self-employed guides.
Answering a question about infrastructure development in the Khasan area, the minister said that funding had been allocated for these purposes, but a reliable contractor must be found.
"Our task is to create roadside service facilities in such areas. The issue is that this work must be carried out by entrepreneurs, and finding them is the responsibility of the municipalities. We are working on it. The authorities are also doing a lot: formalising and improving beach areas, bringing guest houses and recreation bases out of the shadow economy, and updating the master plan. Support measures are in place to encourage entrepreneurs to enter these territories. The situation regarding facilities, services and the quality of offerings up to the border checkpoint is monitored by the Presidential Directorate for Citizens’ and Organisations’ Appeals. Even the appearance of residential houses along the highway and near the border is taken into account. All authorities have been instructed to bring order. In addition to roadside services, the ministry is also responsible for tourist attractions and routes. The funding is available — now we are looking for reliable businesses willing to take up this work," said Natalia Naboychenko.
During the discussion, representatives of the tourism community proposed creating a register of tour operators specialising in children’s travel.
"The regional Ministry of Tourism intends to regularly inform consumers through various media channels about best practices among tour companies, the tour operator register, guide certification, and pricing issues — for example, when a company offers an unusually low price compared to others on the same routes. A tour operator ensures safety, well-organised logistics and a quality tourism product. In these matters, the regional ministry serves as a guarantor," said Natalia Naboychenko.
Meetings between regional operators and municipal representatives will be regularly held at the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region. This will make it possible to discuss new tourist attractions, assess infrastructure conditions, review local authorities’ readiness for the season, and develop new tourist routes.
