Romanovo Clay Toys

Skilled artisans from the Lipetsk Region create distinctive clay whistle toys in the traditional Romanovo style. Every stage of production is carried out by hand — from extracting and preparing the clay to modelling, firing, painting or glazing each piece. A distinctive finishing touch is the application of silver highlights, which give the toys their festive appearance. The collection features handcrafted figures of birds, animals and people. Among the most popular are horses, messengers, horsemen and troikas — traditional three-horse teams. The toys are distinguished by their simple painted decoration and flowing forms. Across the collection, the artisans have recreated more than one hundred traditional motifs and ancient symbolic figures.
