Distinctive Kukarsk lace

The Kukarsk lacework art originated in the Vyatka province at the beginning of the XVIII century. Its name is associated with the settlement of Kukarka, the present name of this town located in the Kirov region is Sovetsk. The defining feature of the Kukarsk lace is the detailed and various patterns of the lace lattices, and they are woven with daisies or stars, for example. Nowadays these lacework tends to have thematic images made in coupling technique of weaving.
