10 February is Diplomatic Worker's Day of Russia
Representing Russia's interests abroad, conducting negotiations and building long-term relations with other states, protecting the rights of Russian citizens — these are the tasks of diplomatic workers, whose professional holiday is celebrated on 10 February. The date was not chosen by chance: 10 February 1549 is among the first mentions of this work.
"The history of Russian diplomacy spans more than a century, mirroring the stages of strengthening Russian statehood. Epochs change, but our spiritual and moral values remain unshakable. These are, first and foremost, sincere, active, selfless love for the Fatherland, steadfast commitment to the ideals of truth and justice <…> Today, at another historical turning point, our national diplomacy continues to do everything in its power to ensure safe and favourable external conditions for Russia's progressive internal development and improving the quality of life of its citizens. Our consistent and balanced foreign policy course largely sets the vector of global transformations, contributing to the establishment of a new, multipolar world order," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov. The congratulatory message was published on the ministry's official website.
The National Centre RUSSIA joins in congratulating the Russian diplomats and all those involved in foreign policy activity and international cooperation. For many ambassadors and their teams, the National Centre RUSSIA has become a venue for substantive dialogue about opportunities for cooperation, economic development, and humanitarian contacts.
The work of the official representatives of the foreign policy department holds a special place in this agenda. One of the most recognisable figures in Russian diplomacy — the Director of the Department of Information and Press and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova — has spoken at the National Centre RUSSIA on multiple occasions. In January 2026, she held a motivational meeting with students from across the country, discussing Russia's role in the world, the information agenda, and responsibility for one's words. Such meetings help young people to hear the position of the diplomatic service in direct dialogue, ask questions, and better understand how the country's foreign policy course is formed, and how today’s diplomacy works with public opinion.
On Diplomatic Worker's Day, the National Centre RUSSIA expresses respect for the work of diplomats and all specialists involved in the field of foreign policy.
