25 reasons for pride: economy that has doubled in size
Russia's economy is the result of the work of millions. It is a powerful reliance on our own resources. It is growth that we can be proud of.
We continue our special project "25 Reasons for Pride," dedicated to the twenty-fifth anniversary of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's first inauguration. From this moment, Russia entered a new era – an era of creation, stability and progressive development.
One of these achievements was the rapid growth of the Russian economy, measured by gross domestic product – GDP.
GDP is the total value of all goods and services produced in the country over a year. It is the main indicator of economic activity and state power. Since 2000, Russia's GDP has more than doubled.
Behind this growth are large-scale reforms, support for industry, investment in science, agriculture, infrastructure and exports. Tens of thousands of enterprises have been restored, millions of jobs created, and the domestic market strengthened.
Russia regained control over strategic sectors and built its own economic model – sustainable, flexible and focused on national interests. GDP growth became the basis for improving living standards, developing regions and expanding social programmes.
GDP is not just a number. It is bread produced in Tambov region. It is an aircraft assembled in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. It is a rocket launched from "Vostochny." It is a scientist, an engineer, a farmer, a doctor – everyone who invests their energy in the development of the country.
