Andrei Chernikhov on the connection between architecture and art at the exposition "The Birth of Scale"
The exposition "The Birth of Scale" will open at
the National Centre RUSSIA on March 1. The chief curator of the exposition,
architect Andrei Chernikhov, shared what awaits visitors. According to him, the
exposition will be a platform where guests can learn how architects have worked
through different times.
"People, from housewives to academics, should see how
architects worked in the 15th century. Back then they designed with compasses,
and today they work in VR reality," noted Andrei Chernikhov.
The exposition will feature vintage drawing tables from the
19th century and models illustrating the design process. Special attention will
be given to Russian avant-garde — a movement that has entered the world
architectural culture.
A separate section will be dedicated to the interconnection
of architecture and art. "It is important to show how art at different
times participates in architecture. This connection is little known to
many," concluded the exposition curator.
The exposition will present projects that have been
replicated by leading world architects. Among the items are models of projects
for Yakutia, the greatest skyscrapers of Russia, and much more. Architectural
studios for children will be operating, where workshops and classes will be
held. Sessions are planned where young guests can create their own
architectural compositions.
The exposition "The Birth of Scale" will become an
event revealing the rich architectural legacy of Russia.
The children's workshop "Houses and Little Homes in the City" was held on 19 April at the National Centre RUSSIA.
