Anna Mikhalkova: "I see this award as an advance"

The first ceremony presenting state awards and honorary titles to cultural figures, dedicated to the new professional holiday Artist's Day, was held at the National Centre RUSSIA on 17 January. By a Decree of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, the honorary title "People’s Artist of the Russian Federation" was conferred on Anna Mikhalkova, actress and Adviser to the Director General on Youth and Cultural Policy at the Russian Cultural Foundation.

"When my mathematics teacher said that nothing would ever come of me, I thought, ‘Never mind, Yekaterina Vladimirovna, one day I will receive the title of People’s Artist and then you will understand that something did come of me.’ That is why today I remember her in particular. Of course, I see this award as an advance, so I can say that I will earn it," Anna Mikhalkova said.

The award was conferred "for outstanding contributions to the development of cinematic, theatrical, choreographic, circus and variety arts".

The actress’s filmography includes more than 100 works. In 2024, she became the winner of the prestigious Golden Eagle and Nika film awards in the Best Actress category for her role in the film "Anna’s Feelings". Since 2002, she has hosted the children’s programme "Good Night, Little Ones!" on the Kultura and Russia 1 TV channels.

Over the coming year, Anna Mikhalkova will appear in the television series "The Local", "Lawyers", "Enemies", "Half-Life" and "The Empty Room", as well as in the films "Hottabych", "The Secret Cosmonaut" and "I Am a Ghost".
