Anton Siluanov fulfills a boy's dream to meet renowned athlete at the National Centre RUSSIA
At the National Centre RUSSIA, the Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Anton Siluanov, granted the New Year wish of a boy named Timur. Timur was dreaming of meeting Roman Kostomarov — Olympic champion, two-time world champion, and three-time European champion. The touching event took place as part of the nationwide "New Year Tree of Wishes" campaign.
"The pre-New Year wish is being granted. Ded Moroz exists. Everything one wishes for comes true," said Anton Siluanov.
Timur is a master of sports in swimming who underwent a foot amputation. Despite his young age, the athlete did not give up and continued training. After the amputation, he had to use prosthetics to move around, but did not quit swimming. Today, he keeps on training.
As Timur himself admits, when he saw Roman Kostomarov training, he wanted to meet him. He was inspired by the story of this man who went through serious difficulties and managed to maintain optimism.
Timur's meeting with Roman Kostomarov took place at the National Centre RUSSIA. Together, the athletes visited the "Book of Fairytales" exposition. After that, they continued their conversation over a cup of tea.
"I was very happy to see the person to whom my mum sent videos capturing me when I first stood on my feet, when I swam, and when I cycled," Timur shared his emotions.
One of the "New Year Trees of Wishes" is located at the venue of the National Centre RUSSIA. The New Year baubles containing children's wishes were taken from it by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin; Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Maxim Oreshkin; and other statesmen. Earlier, a boy named Timur, whose wish was fulfilled by the Russian leader, visited the National Centre RUSSIA.
The nationwide charity campaign "New Year Trees of Wishes" is one of the main initiatives of the "Movement of the First". Its realisation became possible thanks to the support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh). The project helps grant the New Year dreams of children with disabilities, orphans, children from low-income families, and from families of participants in the special military operation.
