Artyom Zdunov: "Our task is to ensure that children learn about Mordovian fairy tales"
Guests of the exposition "Book of Fairy Tales" can take a closer look at the culture and traditions of Mordovia. The Head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov, emphasised that the stand of the Republic is an important step towards introducing a wide audience to the traditional values of the Mordovian people. The exposition allows visitors to discover the region’s distinctive world, its historical heritage and cultural features. As part of the themed programme, the Republic of Mordovia Days are being held at the National Centre RUSSIA from 17 to 22 February.
"Our task is to ensure that children learn these fairy tales and then introduce them to their own children. Mordovian fairy tales are traditionally connected with the forest. We have our own heroes, such as Kuygorozh, who constantly set challenges for themselves. All of this is presented in an interactive format, which sparks children’s interest and ensures the material is perceived at the proper level," Artyom Zdunov said.
At the heart of the Mordovia stand is a stylised traditional embroidered headdress that embodies the people’s aesthetic. The roots of the tree symbolise bog oak — a unique natural treasure whose age is measured in thousands of years.
Traditional crafts are presented in the form of a fir tree, while the interactive game "Tracking the Trail" allows visitors to immerse themselves more deeply in the world of Mordovian epic tales.
Admission to all expositions and events at the National Centre RUSSIA is free of charge. Some require prior registration. The current schedule of events is available on the website russia.ru in the "Events" section. The exposition "Book of Fairy Tales" welcomes visitors until 1 March.
