"Architecture is history in stone": Yelizaveta Likhacheva talked about lectures within the framework of the exposition "The Birth of Scale"
The main idea behind the series of educational lectures held as part of the exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA is enlightenment. As the moderator of the meetings, art historian and architectural historian Yelizaveta Likhacheva, explained, attendees will discover many new aspects even in seemingly familiar things. The series of seven events will begin at the National Centre RUSSIA on March 14.
The first lecture in the series is titled "Academic Russia," and registration is already open. The event will focus on buildings where Russian science is born and develops. It will begin at 18:00.
"The purpose of this event, like any lecture series, is enlightenment. Some things seem well known to everyone, yet upon closer examination, it turns out that no one truly knows them. This is a lecture-discussion. We will both present information and engage in discussion. I believe this unique and important event will be of interest to a broad audience," shared Yelizaveta Likhacheva.
The art historian is convinced that architecture and the life of a country are closely interconnected.
"Architecture is history in stone. To see it, one only needs to be attentive. By studying it, one can sometimes learn more about their homeland than from books. Architecture reflects different stages of any country's history: if you want to understand what is happening in the world, architecture is one of the keys to this understanding," noted the architectural historian.
According to Yelizaveta Likhacheva, Russian culture is one of the most distinctive and fascinating.
"We are part of the vast tree of world culture. We are a great Eastern European Christian culture. This is our national trait, and it must always be spoken about. That is why we so easily understand European culture," emphasized Yelizaveta Likhacheva.
During the lecture "Academic Russia," attendees will learn how the appearance of educational institutions in Russia has evolved — from the Slavic-Greek-Latin Academy, founded in 1687 as the first step toward higher education in the country, to modern high-tech campuses of the 21st century. Participants will also discuss how scientific buildings shape the urban environment.
The speaker will be Anton Tsybisov, chief architect of the creative agency Evolution and architect of the Innovation Centre "Innopolis" University. His professional perspective on architecture will allow guests of the National Centre RUSSIA to gain a deeper understanding of how buildings influence research activities and inspire new discoveries.
Participation in the event is free of charge. Prior registration on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA is required.
