Big changes in small towns: Ivanovo Region Day at the RUSSIA EXPO
For the first time in history, the region is exporting grain — there was a record harvest in 25 years here. The number of large families in the Ivanovo region has grown by a third in five years. The region has become the leader in the Central Federal District in terms of investment growth, and in 2020 it will be among the top ten in the country.
The largest federal companies - SOGAZ, Rosseti, InterRAO — moved their divisions to Ivanovo and created more than two thousand jobs.
On Ivanovo Region's Day at the RUSSIA EXPO, Governor Stanislav Voskresensky described how the textile region became a leader in industrial production and created the best projects in the development of small towns.
"Our region has become the best in many positions, and this was achieved thanks to the decisions that the President of the Russian Federation made in 2018 by launching national projects, as well as due to the individual decisions regarding the Ivanovo region, which were also made by the head of state. The President of the country came up with a special contest for the transformation of small towns and historical settlements, and our region is one of the leaders in terms of the number of grants won, so all the embankments of our Volga cities have been transformed over the past six years", — Stanislav Voskresensky.
The Ivanovo region is known as a textile land. Today it accounts for more than 80% of all cotton fabrics produced in Russia. The region has also mastered new directions, for example, production of knitwear, fabrics with membrane layer, materials for parachutes.
The new leader of the regional economy is mechanical engineering. Professional, the largest company in the industry, which produces attachments for construction, road and mining industries, has increased its production volume five times, and in some positions, it is in the top 5 in the world. The region is also developing production of microelectronics and medical equipment.
A network of rail buses Orlan has been created in the region. 50 comfortable trains have already connected small towns with each other and with the regional center. This has increased passenger traffic by 2.5 times. This project was recognized as the best solution in Russia in the field of railway passenger transport.
Thanks to the launch of high-speed trains from Moscow to Ivanovo, air transportation via Ivanovo Airport has also increased fivefold since 2017. River navigation was revived in small towns on the Volga River — Kineshma and Yuryevets, which will celebrate its 800th anniversary in 2025. Within 5 years Kineshma, Yuryevets, Plyos have received more than 1200 motor ships and more than 400 thousand tourists.
The Ivanovo region is the absolute leader of the Central Federal District in terms of road quality. Thanks to the national project Safe Quality Roads initiated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, 97.5% of regional roads have been brought to the standard condition since 2019.
The Day of the Ivanovo Region was opened by the mixed choir of the Shuya Children's School of Arts. The children sang the hymns Shuya Christmas and The Christmas Holiday. Artists from Palekh held masterclasses on painting icons for everyone interested, and in the afternoon, there was a fashion show of Ivanovo fabrics organized by designer Jacob Yakubov and his studio WHO I AM.
Visitors to the stand were introduced to the family festival Russian Christmas, which has been held for the fifth year in Shuya. And Moscow's OpenSoundOrchestra of Contemporary Music, conducted by Stanislav Malyshev, performed works by Eduard Artemyev, written by the composer for famous films, including films by Andrei Tarkovsky.
