Future of aviation: medium-haul MC-21 presented at the National Centre RUSSIA
More than
50,000 talented specialists have contributed to the creation of one of the
first fully import-substituted passenger aircraft in modern Russian history
— the medium-haul MC-21. This was shared by Vasily Prutkovsky, Managing Director
of Yakovlev PJSC, at the National Centre RUSSIA. Guests of the National Centre
RUSSIA learned details about the project on 16 December during the
session-presentation "Platform of the Future: 100 Projects of Russia.
Technologies" with First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian
Federation Denis Manturov.
Only a few
countries possess sufficient expertise to build their own aircraft, and Russia
is among them. Every day, our aviation industry professionals work to achieve
technological sovereignty, and one of the key projects there is the medium-haul
MC-21, a fully Russian-made aircraft designed for the most in-demand segment of
the passenger transport market. The project's goal is to increase the
population's air mobility by 2030 by not less than 50% compared to the 2023
figure. The MC-21 certification is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026,
after which the aircraft will enter serial production.
As Vasily
Prutkovsky noted in his speech, creating a fully domestic airliner is both a
challenge and a breakthrough.
"Building
a completely domestic aircraft from all domestic components is both a
significant challenge and, in a certain sense, a breakthrough. We have 120
first-tier suppliers and 4,000 second-tier suppliers for this single project
alone. We are establishing a comprehensive cooperation network in Russia for
the production of modern civil aircraft," he emphasised.
Answering
the questions, Vasily Prutkovsky explained that the primary task today is
achieving technological sovereignty, but the project's prospects extend far
beyond.
"We
are solving the task of technological sovereignty. I would tell passengers,
first of all, that they are flying on an aircraft made by the hands, intellect,
and pride of more than 50,000 people. It features not only wide aisles,
comfort, and convenience, but also the future of domestic aviation,"
summarised the Managing Director of Yakovlev PJSC.
The series
of thematic meetings "Platform of the Future: 100 Projects of Russia"
at the National Centre RUSSIA is dedicated to the country's national
development goals for the period up to 2030 and with a perspective to 2036, as
defined by the decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
On 16
December, the discussion focused on five strategic areas: "Technological
Support for the Bioeconomy," "New Materials and Chemistry,"
"Industrial Support for Transport Mobility," "New Nuclear and
Energy Technologies," and "Space." The thematic meeting was
opened by First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Denis
Manturov, who oversees the achievement of the national development goal
"Technological Leadership."
