"The Far East is a new trend": presentation of educational opportunities in the Far Eastern Federal District was held at the National Centre RUSSIA
The
presentation of educational opportunities in the Far East took place on May 20
at the National Centre RUSSIA. The main goal of the event was to spark young
people’s interest in studying at universities in the Far Eastern Federal
District and to support career development in regions that play a key role in
the strategic development of the country.
Gasan
Gasanbalayev, Executive Director for Social Development at the Far East and
Arctic Development Corporation, noted that the National Centre RUSSIA is the
ideal space for such an event, as it showcases the full diversity of our
country: its culture, history, economy, and achievements.
"We
are pleased that the Far East is well represented at the exposition 'Journey
Across Russia.' For schoolchildren from Moscow, the Moscow region and across
Russia, this may be the first step in getting to know our region," Gasan
Gasanbalayev emphasised.
Teams from
four universities of the Far East spoke to students from Moscow, the Moscow and
Kaluga regions: Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok), Blagoveshchensk
State Pedagogical University, Pacific National University (Khabarovsk), and the
V.R. Filippov Buryat State Agricultural Academy (Ulan-Ude). Representatives of
the educational institutions spoke about areas of study, courses, academic
programmes, and the advantages of studying in the Far East, as well as
extracurricular activities — creative clubs and sports, internships, and employment
prospects.
The
presentation was held in an interactive format. It was followed by a quiz on
the Far Eastern region.
"The
Far East is becoming a new trend. Young people are changing too. Whereas in the
past success meant money and connections, now it means self-fulfilment and
achieving one’s goals. Our main objective was to show the opportunities
available in the Far East, to explain how modern young people can make use of
them, what unique education they can receive, how this education is connected to
the industries developing in these territories, and how all of this contributes
to the future of our country," said Oksana Brazhnik, Deputy Director
General of the ANO "National Priorities."
Gasan
Gasanbalayev added that this year universities in the Far East have admitted
three times more students from other Russian regions compared to previous
years.
"People
can now see and hear that it is possible to receive high-quality education in
places like Vladivostok, Sakhalin, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk, and Ulan-Ude. The
universities are becoming more competitive, improving their facilities, opening
modern laboratories, and developing infrastructure. In addition, major
universities are coming to the Far East, creating joint educational programmes
— MGIMO, the Higher School of Economics, Moscow State University, the Moscow
Institute of Physics and Technology, and others," explained Gasan
Gasanbalayev.
The theme
of the upcoming opening of a branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in
Vladivostok — one of the first in the country — was integrated into the
programme and the quiz for the students. The branch is scheduled to open in the
building of the oceanarium on Sportivnaya Embankment along the Amur Bay. One of
the highlights of the future branch will be the legacy of the Vladivostok
aquarium.
The
presentation of the educational opportunities in the Far East is being
implemented in accordance with the instruction of the Prime Minister of the
Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, and is aimed at promoting a positive
image of the Far East.
The project
"New Image of the Far East 2030" is based on the tracks
"Live," "Work," and "Study," which focus on
creating comfortable conditions for living, working, and receiving education in
the region. The strategy includes plans to increase the population of the Far
East by 2030.
