On 28 July, Russia celebrates the Day of the Baptism of Rus, a holiday dedicated to one of the most important events in the country's history. It is on this day that the Baptism of Rus, which took place in 988 under Prince Vladimir, is remembered. This commemorative date was established by a federal law in 2010.

The Baptism of Rus became an event that had a huge impact on the development of the state, culture, and spiritual life of the country. The adoption of Christianity contributed to the strengthening of ties between Russian lands, the development of literacy, education, architecture, icon painting, and other forms of art, many examples of which are today among the most important objects of national cultural legacy.

The name of Prince Vladimir is indissolubly linked to this historical choice. It was under him that the new faith became a unifying principle for Ancient Rus, and the traditions established back then influenced the development of the state and society for centuries.

Preserving historical memory and cultural legacy remains one of the most important tasks today. The activities of the National Centre RUSSIA are dedicated to this mission. Here the country's history is revealed through modern exposition projects, educational programmes, lectures, concerts, and educational initiatives. A key place is occupied by the large-scale exposition "Journey Across Russia", which allows visitors to see the wealth of cultural traditions, natural diversity, and achievements of all the country's federal districts. The exposition introduces visitors to the history of Russian regions, their architecture, crafts, art, and modern development, showing how multifaceted Russia's legacy is.

The Day of the Baptism of Rus reminds us of the events that largely determined the country's future path. It is an occasion to return to its history once again, to better understand the origins of national culture, and to feel the connection between generations united by a shared memory and respect for their legacy.
