Labor Day and the anniversary of writer Viktor Astafyev. Events at the RUSSIA EXPO on May 1
On May 1, the International RUSSIA EXPO offers to take part in an extensive and varied program of events for the whole family. There will be Labor Day celebrations, events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of writer Viktor Astafyev, and a traditional dance masterclass.
Anatoly Zabolotsky is a famous film cameraman, publicist and photographer. It was he who shot the famous movies of V. M. Shukshin - "The Red Snowball Tree", "Happy Go Lucky" ("Pechki-Lavochki"). Anatoly Zabolotsky, who knew the writer Victor Astafyev personally and was his friend, will tell about his vivid memories connected with the writer, about his creative work, about his philosophical and moral works. The meeting will also be attended by the wife of Archpriest Mikhail Kapranov, Matushka Galina, who will share warm memories of her friendship with the writer and his family.

Procession "May! Labor is Cool!"
More than 5,000 people will take part in the event. Through costumed and theatricalized columns they will present the results of humanity's labor in the XX and XXI century, as well as the history of 65 years of the student squads movement.
The procession will consist of 10 thematic columns, whose participants will be veterans of student squads, university students, representatives of state authorities, employers and large Russian companies, partners and employers of the RSS, participants of the student squad movement from different regions of Russia.

Dance and vocal flash mob "We Lead the Future"
The flash mob will be the final point of the march "Labor! Cool!" in honor of May 1. More than 80 people will take part in the event - it will be dancers, acrobatic group, instrumental group, vocalists.
The flash mob will start with a choreographic number with the participation of professional dancers. As the event progresses, the dancers will be joined by acrobats performing spectacular stunts.

Holiday concert "May! Labor is Cool!"
Participants of the event will remind about the importance and demand for working professions in the modern Russian economy. The concert will be attended by artists and activists of student squads. Greetings from the heads of state authorities will be heard.

Concert "Peace. Labor. May. Reboot."
Famous Soviet songs, which have become the artistic legacy of our country, will be performed in modern arrangements on the Main Street Stage. Songs, which lyrics and melodies used to be heard from all radio receivers of the USSR, will be performed in a modern arrangement by favorite artists - Yulianna Karaulova, ST, Mitya Fomin, Na-Na, Chris Yank, the Grinkevich band and the Modern orchestra.

Exercise at the "Sports Russia" venue
The daily exercise will be conducted by Daria Gerasimova - master of sports of Russia of International class in wushu.

Literary lecture: "The life and work of poet ViktorAstafyev".
The event is timed to the centenary of the birth of the great writer Viktor Astafyev. The lecture will be conducted by Andrei Timofeev - prose writer, critic, teacher of the Moscow Institute of Culture, head of the Council of Young Writers of the Union of Writers of Russia. The lecture will cover the genre diversity of Viktor Astafyev's works, the writer's creative work in the literature and culture of the XXI century, as well as his difficult fate, which had a lot of trials.

Screening of the documentary "Viktor Astafyev. CheerfulSoldier"
A movie about the Great Patriotic War as Viktor Astafyev saw and knew it. The record was made two years before his death. There he tells all the bitter and terrible truth of that war, which he went through as a simple soldier.

The event will also take place as part of the Viktor Astafyev centenary celebrations. Straw weaving is a traditional craft in the Krasnoyarsk region, the writer's homeland. Participants of the masterclass will be able to learn the basics of straw weaving and make a memorable souvenir in the shape of a small horse with their own hands.

Literary and musical program "Astafyev Readings"
Famous Russian theater and cinema actor Boris Galkin, who knew the writer personally, will read several chapters from Astafyev's most popular works ("Tsar-Fish", "Cheerful Soldier"), as well as speak about the most vivid memories associated with the writer. Writer Valery Ivanov-Tagansky and singer Galina Uletova will also take part in the event.
Literary readings will be accompanied by live classical and folk music: the ensemble will perform for the guests favorite compositions of Viktor Astafyev, such as "Blizzard" by Georgy Sviridov, " Oh, roads" and others.

The guests will enjoy a bright program, which includes a gastronomic presentation "Sakhalin Taste Traditions", a masterclass on cooking and tasting the gastronomic symbol of the Sakhalin region and the city of Kholmsk - pyanse, presentation of the annual "Youth Pyanse Festival", taekwondo demonstrations, drummers and folk instruments ensemble "Hanyl" from the Sakhalin region.

Visitors will be able to listen to a lecture on the theme "Peace, labor, May: on the main spring holiday in the context of the study of historical epochs". The expert will talk about how the holiday date reflects the struggle of workers for their rights and justice in different historical periods. He will share unique facts and analyze how the perception and meaning of May 1 has changed in different eras and cultures. During the meeting, listeners will discuss with the expert the influence of historical events on the formation of the modern understanding of this holiday and its symbolism.
There will also be a musical performance "Labor! May! Moscow!", the program of which includes the best and favorite songs of the Soviet era about the city and labor from the cover band "Moskvichka" ("Moscow Girl").

Opening of the exposition of author's decorative panels"My Soul is Russia".
The author of the works is Callista Ivanova, a finalist of the all-Russian project "Cultural Code of the Russian Federation", who has prepared a collection of unique works based on Russian traditional culture.
Callista's works have a powerful decorative element, they are created using a variety of materials and painted in the author's coloristic style, which is already recognizable.
Original panels, made in an unusual technique, are united by a strong feeling of love for the native land, native country and its all-Russian culture. Each work is a symbol of the Russian soul, a reflection of one or another cultural paradigm or national value.

Participants of the masterclass will master the Russian traditional step, which is the basis of all roundelays, dances and folk dancing. The class is designed for beginners and those who want to remember the basics of folk choreography.
The speaker will be Ulyana Karlova - singer, ethno-choreographer, folklorist. Ulyana spends a lot of time in motion, dance is her way to build a dialog between the traditions of our ancestors and modern culture.
