Denis Manturov presented awards to winners of the selection of fast-growing technology companies — national champions
First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov
presented awards to the winners of the annual selection of Russian fast-growing
technology companies — national champions. The ceremony was held at the
National Centre RUSSIA.
As part of the latest stage of the expert selection, 18 new
companies from various sectors received the status of national
champions, including mechanical engineering, electronics, medicine,
chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotech and the IT sector.
"All the companies have passed a multi-stage selection
process and proved their innovative character, high level of corporate culture,
commitment to mastering advanced technologies and new market niches. You have successful
experience of implementing complex projects in the interests of developing our
economy and social sphere and strengthening national security. The competencies
you have built up and the trust of consumers allow you to expand your presence
on the external track as well. Above all, in the markets of the Global South
and the near abroad, contributing to the growth of Russian non-resource
non-energy exports," Denis Manturov noted.
The total number of national champions already stands at 160
companies, whose combined annual revenue has approached one trillion roubles.
The new participants include Russian manufacturers of bionic prostheses and
high-precision compact milling machines, as well as a biotechnology company
with a portfolio of innovative developments for the diagnosis, prevention and
treatment of various diseases, and other organisations.
"Innopratika and the Russian Venture Company play a
significant role in building this ecosystem. Over the years, they have created
a developed infrastructure to support technology businesses. This includes a
broad range of financial instruments, acceleration programmes and expert
mechanisms. To give national champions additional incentives for growth, the
Government is developing a separate register of companies that are technology
leaders. This will make it possible to focus state support on those who have
already established themselves in the innovation field and are ready to compete
with leading global players," Denis Manturov stated.
As the First Deputy Prime Minister emphasised, the state,
development institutions, and the business and scientific communities have
joined forces to ensure that innovative businesses have opportunities to scale
up. The development of small technology companies occupies a key place in this
process.
"This year, more than 60 applications were submitted
for the selection from companies that hold strong positions in their sectors.
The new national champion companies represent a wide range of high-tech and
production areas that form the basis of the country’s technological sovereignty
and industrial development. I am confident that many of them will soon be able
to become participants in priority projects for technological leadership and
will receive additional opportunities to scale up their solutions thanks to
effective tools for supporting innovation and new technologies," said
Natalia Popova, First Deputy Director General of Innopraktika and Public
Ombudsman for the Protection of the Rights of High-Tech Leading Companies.
The educational video project "8 Steps Across the Map of Russia" continues its journey through the pages of history.
The Open Lecture Hall "Inventing the Future: Ecotourism", an original project of the National Centre RUSSIA, will be held for the first time at the National Centre RUSSIA in Primorye on Friday, 29 May.
