Young visitors of the National Centre RUSSIA immersed themselves in the world of architecture through the lens of perception during the unique workshop "Imagining the Future." The class, part of the "Architectural Sketches" course, took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on 18 April as part of the educational programme of the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale." Young artists aged 6 to 17 took part in the workshop.

The class was conducted by teachers from the School of Architectural Development: senior lecturer, member of the Union of Moscow Architects Vera Markina, and senior lecturer, Candidate of Architecture, member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation Zoya Zhilkina.

The instructors revealed the secrets of perceptual drawing — a technique based on the sensory perception of space. The children worked with dry materials such as pastels and pencils. They transferred their sense of space to paper through a variety of volumetric forms, as well as through depth and dimension in their drawings.

Young artist Makar attended the workshop at the National Centre RUSSIA not for the first time. According to his mother, Alina Fedorova, her son is interested in architecture.

"We liked the approach because, over an extended period of time, various strong schools of Moscow present their programmes in the form of workshops at the National Centre RUSSIA. This way, everyone has the opportunity to get acquainted with the programmes, the teachers, and what the child can gain as a result. It’s truly priceless. It’s about development, a playful format, and the stunning exposition 'The Birth of Scale'," noted the young artist’s mother.

The family also visited the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale."

"Architectural masterpieces are presented here, offering a fundamental immersion. I think it’s wonderful that creative sessions for children are held at such a high-level exposition. And in general, everything at the National Centre RUSSIA is done in a very modern and impressive way. When you are here, you feel a sense of pride for the country," emphasised Alina Fedorova.

One can take part in a guided tour of the exposition "The Birth of Scale" and attend the workshops of the educational programme "Children’s Architectural Workshops" free of charge by registering in advance on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA, russia.ru. The latest information about the workshops is available in the "Events" section.
