You can mine some "Baltic gold" at the RUSSIA EXPO
It is almost impossible to visit Kaliningrad and not bring back an amber jewelry piece. After all, the region is home to 90% of the world's amber reserves. The guests of the International RUSSIA EXPO can take a piece of the sunny stone with them, but to do that they will have to work with an excavator bucket.
Many people
stop near the stand of the Kaliningrad region. It is not every day you see an
amber quarry, even in miniature. But its model is not just for beauty -
visitors to the exposition can use a joystick to start the excavator and
extract a handful of amber for themselves.
"It is
interesting that adults want to play as much as children. But still the main
miners of amber are young visitors. On weekends there is no shortage of
children. It's an interesting game for kids, and it's always nice to take a
unique gem with you as a souvenir," - said stand representative Mikhail
Melnikov.
It is not
easy to collect amber even for fun. Fortunately, volunteers are always ready to
help at the exposition. They explain how to manage the excavator and not to
lose the precious booty.
"The first time I spilled all the amber and got nothing, but they explained to me that I had to drive closer to the pit and turn the machine a little bit. And so, I collected as many as eight pieces of amber. I will give the biggest one to my mom, the rest to my friends, and I will keep one as a souvenir," - said 10-year-old Anton Pushkov.
Also at the regional stand you can take selfies with the great philosopher Immanuel Kant, take a virtual bike ride and look at priceless inclusions - amber with insects frozen inside.
