Driver of technological efficiency: the use of AI in key industries was discussed at the RUSSIA EXPO
Artificial
Intelligence Day was held at the RUSSIA EXPO. Experts presented the prospects
of using Artificial Intelligence in various industries: education, healthcare,
transport and others.
Implementation
of AI is becoming a priority task for all key sectors of the economy. Russia
has approved the National Strategy for the Development of Artificial
Intelligence for the period until 2030, thanks to which the introduction of AI
will increase GDP by 11.2 trillion rubles, and business and government
investment in AI will increase from 120 to 850 billion rubles per year. At the
same time, the share of priority sectors of the economy with high readiness to
implement AI is going to increase from 12% to 95%. The level of development of
the technology today, as well as the measures being taken to introduce it into
key sectors of the economy, were discussed at the business events.
Dmitry
Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, spoke about the
importance of technology in the development of science, economy and industry of
the country.
"We
see that artificial intelligence is becoming a key technology, the increase in
efficiency in all spheres of life is inextricably linked to its development.
Thanks to AI, the transition from an economy of deficiency to an economy of
abundance is becoming possible. In conjunction with other technologies, AI is
able to reduce the cost of many goods, reducing the cost of their
production," emphasized Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Maxim
Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of Russia, in turn, noted the
role of artificial intelligence in solving the problem of staff shortage and
competition for them. According to him, AI technologies optimize processes, and
reducing costs and improving product quality allows influencing labour
productivity, which is of interest to all key industries.
During the
panel discussion "Artificial Intelligence in Education", the
participants discussed the impact of AI technologies on education and the
trends of their implementation in this system.
"For
three years we have been working in two main directions. First, it is the
training of teachers in artificial intelligence within the framework of the
relevant National Project. By conducting the first stages of training, which
include an introductory course on what AI is and how to work with it, we
realized the high need for the technology not only for teachers of mathematics
and computer science, but also literature, Russian language and other specialties.
Secondly, holding an AI Olympiad to identify talents who can work with this
technology," said Andrei Gorobets, Director of the Department of Digital
Transformation and Big Data at the Russian Ministry of Education.
Another
sphere in which AI technologies are being actively used today is transport. As
Dmitry Bakanov, Deputy Minister of Transport, noted at the plenary discussion
"Artificial Intelligence in the Transportation Industry," a number of
areas are being actively developed today.
"We are engaged in the development of unmanned modes of transport: automobile and aviation. Another important direction that concerns transport is the introduction of the "Free flow" system, which allows to automatically debit toll roads or impose fines in case of failure to pay without stopping the vehicle. In addition, the technology of psychophysical monitoring devices for drivers has been introduced, which is aimed at improving the safety of the road environment," said Dmitry Bakanov.
The panel
discussion "Depth and Efficiency Limits of AI Development in Industries
and Regions" presented the results and experience of five regions working
on AI implementation in various industries. These subjects include Moscow, the
Moscow region, the Sakhalin region, Republic of Tatarstan and the Kaluga
region. Vyacheslav Alenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Sakhalin
region, noted that the region is facing the task of total implementation of
artificial intelligence in all spheres. Today, the regional government together
with Sber is implementing the "Technology Island" project, which is
aimed at transforming the Sakhalin region into a leading region in Russia in
terms of the level of implementation of artificial intelligence in its
management based on big data.
"One
of the main problems that is pressing in the region is human resources. To
solve it, we have created an Artificial Intelligence Center on the basis of the
university and built an end-to-end system of personnel training, starting from
kindergarten and school. In addition, we use AI in medicine - all the
workplaces of radiologists, functional diagnosticians and primary care doctors
are equipped with AI technologies, as well as in the creation of a comfortable
urban environment, assessing the quality of the road surface and recognizing
violations of road markings with the help of this tool," said Vyacheslav
Alenkov.
During the panel discussion "Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare" the experts discussed both the state system of AI management in healthcare and the issue of doctors' trust in the above-mentioned technology. According to Olia Artemova, Deputy Director of the Department of Digital Development and Information Technologies of the Russian Ministry of Health, there is an urgent need for scientific research to increase the loyalty of the professional audience to AI tools. In addition, among the most important topics on the agenda, the speaker noted the monitoring and control of AI application, the ethics of AI application, and the training of staff in this area.
At the end of the business program, the panel discussion "Artificial Intelligence in Fintech" was held. Maxim Grigoriev, CEO of the Association for the Development of Financial Technologies, noted that the financial sector is one of the leaders in the implementation of artificial intelligence - according to their estimates, about 90% of financial organizations use AI technologies in their work. During the event, the participants raised questions about the future of AI in finance, key trends of its development in 2024, as well as the effects of AI implementation for banks and ordinary people.
The National Centre RUSSIA will host a series of presentations titled "Journey Across Russia's Gastronomic Festivals."
The National Centre RUSSIA today meets the needs of various professional communities for communication and exchange of experience.
During the tour of the expansive exposition, the Chairman of the Government highlighted the significance of the display.
