Economy, demography, and tourism of Mordovia become topics of exclusive interview with Artyom Zdunov held by the National Centre RUSSIA
Economic development, demographic issues and state family support measures, and the progress in the sphere of tourism and creative industries — these were the topics of an exclusive interview conducted by the Press Office of the National Centre RUSSIA with the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov. The conversation took place during the region's thematic week, held at the National Centre RUSSIA from 16 to 22 February. The recording has been published in the Livestreams and Videos section.
The Head of the Republic, Artyom Zdunov, stated that the hard work on economic growth is the key task set for the regional authorities. In 2025, according to him, Mordovia's economy grew by more than three per cent, investment growth amounted to almost five per cent, and there is also an upturn in the industrial sector. The region is successfully developing the production of pharmaceutical drugs and polymer materials. Republican enterprises related to mechanical engineering, agriculture, and agricultural processing have been also demonstrating good results.
Artyom Zdunov also reported that a regional state support measure has been launched in Mordovia, enabling public sector employees to obtain rental housing. The main condition is that the family must live and work in the republic, and have at least one child born there.
Another important topic is tourism development. According to the Head of Mordovia, the Republic has great potential for developing this sector, including through the active improvement of transport accessibility and hotel infrastructure.
He noted that, following the instruction of President Vladimir Putin, construction continues on a road that will shorten the route between the Sanaksar Monastery in the Temnikovsky District of Mordovia and the village of Diveyevo in the Nizhny Novgorod region — key routes of the pilgrimage and tourism cluster. The region also attracts great interest from tourists who actively visit its historical, patriotic, cultural, and educational events.
During the interview, the Head of the Republic also touched upon the development of creative industries, and emphasised the importance of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, and evaluated the Republic of Mordovia's exposition at the "Book of Fairy Tales" display at the National Centre RUSSIA.
