New Year tree of the Irkutsk region: the purest lake in the world and its inhabitants
The region cannot boast of preserved folk crafts, but artisans lovingly made unique ceramics, stylized animal figures, bells, celestial bodies, products and amulets with horsehair for the region's New Year tree.
And, of course, the theme of Lake Baikal with its inhabitants, including Baikal nerpa or Baikal seal - the only freshwater seal species in the world, endemic to Lake Baikal, became the emphasis of the Christmas tree.
Baikal fish, such as omul, grayling and perch, were also placed on the branches of the fir tree.
In general, the design of the tree turned out to be very delicate, like the white and emerald colors of the ice of the purest lake.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by 89 New Year trees, each of them representing a region of the country.
