"Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice" movie. Premiere at the RUSSIA EXPO
The RUSSIA
EXPO hosted the premiere screening of the documentary "Roman Kostomarov:
Born Twice". The movie is dedicated to the invincible spirit and
commitment to fight to the end, despite the difficulties. To no lesser extent,
the film captures the feminine strength shown by Roman's wife Oksana Domnina,
who supported the athlete and played a crucial role in his recovery.
"Of
course, this is a movie about love, overcoming and family as the most important
thing in life. I don't think I could have done it without my wife. I'm lucky to
have her - strong and loved. She is the reason I survived. In the situation I
found myself in, I realized what true love is. When your beloved person is by
your side, supports you and says "we will walk this difficult path together",
"no matter how difficult it is for us - I'm with you", "don't
give up", "everything will be fine" - these are precious words,
and they helped a lot," said Roman Kostomarov.
Filming the
movie helped the skater from a mental point of view, his wife Oksana Domnina
noted.
"The
workload was great - it helped Roman to recover his morals faster. In difficult
life moments, when we do nothing and lie down - we have time to mope. I really
did not want that - shooting the movie took a lot of time, and some days Roman
did not have time to think. Of course, there were other days as well - he was
sad, worried, laughed and cried during the shooting process," said Oksana
Domnina.
Roman and
Oksana are sure that the movie is largely about the strength of women - that's
why its release is timed to coincide with International Women's Day.
"The
movie tells about the women who were around during this period - nurses,
doctors, mother, daughter. There is an emphasis on family and women,"
Oksana Domnina said. "Going through such trials, you realize that women
are sometimes stronger than men in many ways," added Roman Kostomarov.
The movie
is designed to demonstrate that love and courage resonate in the hearts of
viewers, said Mikhail Shchedrinsky, the film's director.
"We
want to show with our film that the viewer is interested in the concepts of
"honor", "bravery", "love",
"friendship". I hope you will see and appreciate it. Many thanks to
the Kostomarov family. If you want to cry, cry, if you want to laugh, laugh. We
really hope that you will empathize," Mikhail Shchedrinsky addressed the
guests of the premiere.
The
premiere at the RUSSIA EXPO was attended by a number of athletes and
representatives of show business. Among them was Roman Kostomarov's partner in
pairs skating Tatiana Navka, who came to the show together with her husband,
press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov. In addition,
the guests of the premiere were Russian figure skater Adelina Sotnikova, singer
Natalia Chistyakova-Ionova (known under the pseudonym Glukoza), musician Leonid
Agutin and others.
"It is very important to hear such stories, and I am very happy that Roman has the courage to tell them today. The whole country was watching this story. And this courage, this strength, this inhuman thirst to live, to create - are worthy of admiration and respect. They give strength to those people who are in difficult situations," Glukoza said.
Shooting of the documentary began last November and took about three months. The authors of the picture filmed more than 30 hours of interviews - with Roman Kostomarov himself, his wife Oksana Domnina, his mother, daughter, friends, other athletes and doctors who were involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of the skater. In addition, the picture includes archive footage from his life. In theaters the film "Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice" will be released on March 9.
The first event to be held at the Russia National Centre, which is being established by the order of President Vladimir Putin, will be the International Science Fiction Symposium and Exhibition "Inventing the Future". The symposium will take place from November 4 to 6.
Tomorrow, the International RUSSIA EXPO will conclude its work. From November 2023 to July 2024, it was visited by more than 18 million guests.
Every day, for eight months, the RUSSIA EXPO delighted guests and gave unforgettable emotions.
