From June 18 to 21, St. Petersburg hosts the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), one of the leading events dedicated to the global economy.

The business program of the forum was opened on June 18 by the session "Shaping a new platform for Global Growth", at which the International Open Dialogue's final report of the results was presented. The Open Dialogue was initially held by the National Centre RUSSIA. The discussion focused on the key challenges of our time — economic and political fragmentation, demographic shifts, the introduction of breakthrough technologies and the growing social and technological gap both within and between States.

Thiago Rudiger, CEO of the Tanssi Foundation (Brazil), emphasized that the real fintech revolution is taking place in the countries of the Global South.

"Forget about Wall Street — the fintech revolution is taking place in the countries of the Global South. Thanks to the blockchain, money and assets become programmable, and in combination with artificial intelligence, this gives a powerful impetus to the transformation of the entire financial sector. Fintech is changing the rules of the game, influencing traditional banks and opening up new opportunities for millions of people," said Thiago Rudiger.

He noted that Brazil and Russia share their experience in these areas with each other.

"I think that this will help people reduce the cost of operations in global financial markets. I am enthusiastic about discussing it. I am waiting for these processes to take place in Brazil and around the world," emphasized Thiago Rudiger.

The session was moderated by Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. He stressed that this year the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place against the backdrop of tumultuous events in the world.

"This year, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place against the backdrop of tumultuous events in the world. This includes the situation in the Middle East and trade wars. A lot of time will be devoted to this agenda at the forum today. We must not forget which long-term trends and challenges are basic and decisive. It is important to have an open dialogue about how we can build the world of the future and how to create a new platform for global growth. In which countries will this global growth take place, on what technologies will it be built, on what principles and cultural code. Our task is to move forward for the benefit of people in all countries that, like Russia, are working on the future. It is through an open dialogue that our future and our understanding of it are being built," Maxim Oreshkin emphasized.

At the session organized by the National Center RUSSIA, the speakers also discussed the report on the results of the Open Dialogue prepared by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Expertise "Third Rome". The session was held in the format of consecutive discussions, in which the speakers discussed economics, technology and people in a rapidly changing world.

The results of the session "Shaping a new platform for Global Growth" became the basis for the subsequent SPIEF 2025 business program. The recording of the broadcast of the session "Shaping a new platform for global growth" can be viewed on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA.
