School Students Forum at the National Centre RUSSIA: the Far East as a centre of career opportunities for young people
The School Students Forum held at the National Centre RUSSIA
has become a platform where young people can explore the educational and career
opportunities offered by the Far East. On the sixth day of the event, senior
students from the Vladimir region learnt about universities and technical
colleges in the Far East, about prospects for employment and the tourism appeal
of the region, including how exactly young people can build a successful career
in this rapidly developing macro-region of the country.
"The event helps popularise the regions of the Far East
and draw the attention of young people. Russia is a vast country, and not every
school student can afford to travel across its immense territory. In this
regard, forums such as this allow us, representatives of the regions, to
explain what opportunities these regions offer, which conditions they provide,
and which potential preferences young people receive when studying and staying
to work in our territories," shared one of the speakers, Deputy Director
of the Magadan Polytechnic Technical College Victoria Aslanyan.
She spoke about her educational institution and noted that
almost all students of the Magadan Polytechnic Technical College begin working
in their field during industrial placements at partner companies. They receive
a salary, which may amount to several tens of thousands of roubles.
"This provides strong support for students, and what is
especially important, they develop competencies that allow them to secure permanent
employment at a company immediately after graduation, without additional
training or further qualification," she added.
The Director of the Unified Service Centre of the Far
Eastern State Transport University, Yelena Khimich, emphasised that every
university in a given region has its own distinct advantages.
"Our strength lies in the large number of state-funded
places — more than 1,200 each year, predominantly for engineering specialties. Three
sectors — construction, energy and transport — are the three pillars on which,
I believe, the economy of any country is built," said Yelena Khimich while
speaking about her university.
The Far Eastern State Transport University is a participant
in the Priority-2030 project and closely cooperates with companies and
universities across the country and abroad, including China.
"Students who demonstrate strong results in science,
creativity and public activities receive additional scholarships. There is
extensive grant support and various subsidies. Our university also has a
military training centre where male students can obtain a military registration
specialty and graduate as reserve officers," added Yelena Khimich.
Any region of the Far East can become a career springboard
for young and talented people. Using Kamchatka as an example, Deputy Head of
the Representative Office of the Governor and Government of the Kamchatka
region under the Government of the Russian Federation Yelena Kosova explained:
"In the central regions of Russia, competition is extremely high, and it
is very difficult to enter government bodies or other administrative
structures. But when you come to the North, if you are diligent and determined,
you can rise to significant career heights quite quickly."
In her presentation, Yelena Kosova also spoke about the
tourism appeal of the region.
"Kamchatka is unique in every respect. It is the only
place not only in the Russian Federation but on Earth where you can step onto a
balcony and see three home volcanoes at once right in the regional centre — in
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. In addition to this, there are thermal springs,
excellent fishing, hunting, winter sports and the opportunity to surf on the
shore of the Pacific Ocean. In other words, all the attractions found
separately in some Far Eastern regions are gathered in one place in
Kamchatka," she noted.
At the end of the business programme of the School Students
Forum, the participants were given a tour of the interactive exposition about
the Far East, which is open to the public at the National Centre RUSSIA and
introduces visitors to the unique opportunities for travel, study, work and
life created in this macro-region with the support of the state. It features
several interactive zones and art objects combined into an engaging route.
The exposition "Days of the Far Eastern Regions in
Moscow" is open to visitors of the National Centre RUSSIA from 1 to 30
November 2025 daily except Mondays.
The project "Days of the Far Eastern Regions in
Moscow" has been implemented with the support of the Office of the
Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, the
Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, the
Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, and the non-profit
organisation "Foundation for the Development of Social Initiatives".
The event, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Federal Tax Service, was held at the National Centre RUSSIA on 20 November.
A warm pre-holiday meeting between children and the All-Russian Ded Moroz from Veliky Ustyug took place at the National Centre RUSSIA.
Strategic initiatives for tourism development, strengthening regional infrastructure and promoting Russia as both a domestic and international travel destination were the focus of the XXI Congress of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST).
