Gastronomic Rows — "South": kurze, chudu, Ossetian pies, and rapan stroganoff
The "Journey Across Russia. Food" space at the National Centre RUSSIA introduces visitors to the rich diversity of Russian multicultural cuisine. The gastronomic rows are divided into four thematic zones: "South," "North," "West," and "East." Here’s a closer look at the sunniest of them all — the Southern zone.
Visitors can not only savor dishes infused with the aromas of the sun and sea but also immerse themselves in the culture of southern feasting. Guests can try fried Adyghe cheese paired with an unusual combination of adjika and jam, beef bread slice, stroganoff made with rapans (type of a sea snail), Kuban-style pilaf, kurze, chudu, and dumplings with various fillings, Ossetian pies, and baklava. The menu also features Crimean chebureks, cabbage rolls stewed in sour cream sauce, baked quince with honey and nuts, urbech, eggplants and tomatoes with a walnut dressing, and much more.
The gastronomic space "South" also offers an opportunity to learn more about the culinary traditions of this region. Special programs and workshops will introduce guests to traditional dishes and secrets passed down through generations. Visitors will also learn how the southern regions of Russia blend influences from different cultures in their cuisine and why food in the South is also a way to express love and respect.
The Gastronomic Rows at the National Centre RUSSIA are open every day except Monday.
The gastronomic rows are part of the larger "Journey Across Russia" project, showcasing the achievements and landmarks of all federal districts of our country. The exposition of the Southern Federal District highlights Russia’s great sporting victories. The Sochi Olympic Park has become the main heritage site of the Olympics and a symbol of the development of sports in Russia. Visitors to the exposition will discover the opportunities available to children and adolescents, as well as the role played by the "Sirius" educational center in shaping future leaders, scientists, athletes, and creators.
You can visit the "Journey Across Russia" exposition for free as part of a guided tour. Registration is available on the website russia.ru.
