Pride in the country: first visitors share their impressions of "The Birth of Scale" exposition
On March 1,
the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale," dedicated to the
evolution of Russian architectural thought and its influence on global
architecture, opened at the National Centre RUSSIA. The first visitors highly
appreciated the concept and content of the exposition.
"This
is an amazing synthesis of history and the present. The exposition not only
showcases objects but also tells the story behind each of them. I was
especially impressed by Tatlin's Tower and the ancient wooden cathedrals. Honestly,
it's hard to believe they were built without a single nail," shared Irina
Markova from the Moscow region.
The
exposition offers a unique journey through different eras: from ancient
architectural masterpieces to futuristic projects that will shape the cities of
the future.
"This
is not the first exposition I have visited at the National Centre. The
high-rise buildings impressed me the most — it truly reflects the grand Russian
scale. A special thanks to the wonderful tour guides of the National Centre,"
said Natalia, a resident of Belgorod.
Interactive
installations, models of iconic structures, and multimedia presentations allow
visitors to experience how scale is born in architecture.
"It is
fascinating to see how architects envisioned large-scale forms a hundred years
ago and how they have evolved. Of course, our predecessors could not have
foreseen such a tremendous population growth and powerful logistics. Modern
architects, however, pay great attention to the infrastructure surrounding buildings.
For example, the Lakhta Centre project takes into account numerous
interchanges, parking lots, and highways — something that past architects
simply could not have anticipated. Yet, in many ways, the forms themselves have
remained unchanged, which speaks to the grand vision of our predecessors. I was
also very interested to see the tools that architects used in the past, many of
which are still relevant today," said Yelena from Moscow.
The
exposition presents not only real and completed buildings but also large-scale
projects that were never realized yet significantly influenced global
architecture.
"I
have been to many architectural expositions, but this one has a special
grandeur. I really liked how it highlights Russia's role in the global architectural
process," emphasized visitor Dmitry.
"The
Birth of Scale" is not just a showcase of achievements but also an
invitation to a dialogue about the future of architecture. The exposition will
feature lectures, discussions, and master classes for visitors of all ages.
"This
exposition gave me yet another reason to be proud of my beloved country and
even made me see the profession of an architect in a new light. I was also very
surprised to find a children's workshop here and spent a long time watching little
kids eagerly creating something. I will definitely bring my school-age son here
for inspiration," promised Maria from Orekhovo-Zuyevo.
"The
Birth of Scale" exposition will run until June 1. Visitors can register
for free guided tours by the National Centre RUSSIA on the website russia.ru or
at the main information desk in front of the exposition.
