On November 17, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted a masterclass on the art of communication and public speaking. The secrets of clear and captivating speech were shared by TV host and trainer in speech, voice, and public speaking, Yelena Reshetnikova.

"We live in an era of an information explosion. Just think about it: as of 2013, statistics showed that in a month, we receive as much information as a person from XVII century did in their entire life. So, standing out among this vast array of information sources is truly an art," said Yelena Reshetnikova.

While all of us know how to speak, not everyone can convey their ideas effectively to others. The masterclass host outlined the key principles of communication that allow a person to confidently make their mark professionally and build fulfilling personal relationships.

"First and foremost, people want to gain something good and meaningful for themselves, so the main principle of successful communication is to be useful. It’s not so much about you, but about how your knowledge, skills, and experience can improve someone else's life. It’s about addressing the pain points of others while subtly intertwining your abilities and expertise — and understanding this is crucial," the expert emphasized.

Time is a precious resource, so when talking about yourself, you should be as concise as possible while highlighting your best qualities. Yelena Reshetnikova noted: "We must become 'gadget people.' This is the reality: we don’t have time for long preludes that lose our audience’s attention. You need to immediately see and hear the person, understand their pain points, interests, and mood."

Elegant figures of speech often hide the fear of being perceived as inadequate or incompetent. Sometimes people avoid public speaking altogether, claiming they are "not ready yet." Yelena Reshetnikova believes it is essential to overcome these fears.

"There will always be someone better and smarter than you. But at any given moment, there are also people who specifically need your help and expertise. So, when you decide that you are 'not ready yet,' you are not only doing yourself a disservice but also letting others down," the masterclass leader explained.

In addition to the theoretical aspects, Yelena Reshetnikova demonstrated several practical techniques to the audience. These techniques help improve diction, enhance speech expressiveness, and boost confidence during public speaking.

"Remember, you are capable of much more than you think. Your voice is naturally rich and equipped with everything necessary for you to sound great and inspire others with your speech. So, believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to showcase your strengths and talents to your audience. That’s how you can build the life you want, rather than letting circumstances dictate it," concluded Yelena Reshetnikova.

The National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO and to showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens on a permanent basis. Federal government agencies, state companies, corporations, and regions take part in the Centre’s work. The first event at the National Centre RUSSIA was the International Symposium "Inventing the Future," which welcomed more than 6,000 guests from 101 countries.

The National Centre RUSSIA is located at 14 Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, Moscow. The Centre is open from 10:00 to 20:00 every day except Monday.
