The original event "The Role of the Russian Language in the Future History of Humanity" will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA on June 5 ahead of Russian Language Day and the birthday of Alexander Pushkin — the genius whose works became the standard of Russian literary language.

The meeting will take place within the Literary Club "What to Read?!", organised by the National Centre RUSSIA to popularise reading culture. The event will be conducted by Alexei Chesnakov, Head of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Political Studies, Professor at HSE University, and author of the Telegram channel "Chesnakov.Library."

The evening will allow guests to take a fresh look at the significance of the Russian language in world history and culture and trace how the living word creates connections between epochs, preserving ancestral wisdom for future generations.

Special attention will be paid to the work of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. Together with Alexei Chesnakov, meeting participants will analyse famous expressions by the classic that have entered our everyday speech, discover why Pushkin is called the founder of modern Russian language, and trace how his work continues to inspire people around the world, preserving and promoting cultural and spiritual values.

Invited guests of the event will be Russian educator, entrepreneur, publisher and editor-in-chief of "Encyclopedia for Children Avanta+," public figure, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, laureate of the Russian Federation Presidential Prize in Education Maria Aksenova and descendant of A. S. Pushkin through the line of his eldest son — Alexander Alexandrovich, chief librarian of Library No. 1 named after A. S. Griboedov, head of the Board of Trustees of the Association "Commonwealth of Educational Organisations named after A. S. Pushkin and Teachers" Yelena Saburova.

The club "What to Read?!" was created at the National Centre RUSSIA as an intellectual platform for discussing literature, exchanging ideas and developing strategic thinking. The focus is on developing reading culture, interest in meaningful writing and expanding the space for public dialogue.

One can join club events and become participants in numerous other educational and cultural programmes at the National Centre RUSSIA free of charge through advance registration on the russia.ru website. Current information about events can be found in the "Events" section.
