The guests of Chuvashia's exposition at the RUSSIA EXPO could feel themselves as tractor drivers with the help of a special profession simulator. The Republican Employment Center presented such activity at the stand of the region.
The simulator of the "tractor driver" profession attracted the attention of people of different ages: children, youth, and the senior generation. They tried their hand at the working profession, performing tasks of different complexity. Simple ones were aimed at introducing the visitors to the general principles of tractor movement. The complex ones involved installing additional parts with the help of which the tractor could maneuver, albeit virtually, plow the land and cut its way.
"The training and methodological center "Aspect", which is engaged in supplementary vocational education, won a grant that allowed us to buy several simulators and create our own career guidance center in the republic. Now we have a simulator of a combine harvester, a tractor and sewing equipment. This will allow the schoolchildren of Chuvashia to try themselves in activities new to them and assess whether they like it in order to choose a profession in the future," said Larisa Ermakova, Head of the Department for Organization of Employment of the Population of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Chuvash Republic.
"Aspect" received the grant thanks to the republic's participation in the "Thrifty Initiative" contest organized by Rosatom State Corporation as part of the "Effective Region" project. The contest itself was aimed at forming experimental platforms, as well as identifying and describing effective practices that make it possible to optimize processes in organizations of various spheres of activity and further expand the territory of their application.
About 30 thousand people undergo career guidance in Chuvashia every year. Much attention is paid to schoolchildren starting from the 8th grade. In the coming year the region plans to attract even younger children from 6th and 7th grades of schools.
"Now we are trying to popularize working professions, because children want to sit in offices, behind papers, or be bloggers. In the minds of many people, a working profession is not very prestigious. We want to change the idea of children and we hope that these simulators will help us and give them a sense of what they want," Larisa Ermakova added.
In addition, those who eventually become interested in a working profession at the career guidance center will be able to undergo training. Its duration will be about six months, and at the end of it the students will receive state certificates. This will give them certain advantages both for further education in higher educational institutions, as they will have a good practical base, and for further employment.
Along with the simulator of the "tractor driver" profession, the Chuvash Employment Center held a career guidance test "Personnel Navigator" at VDNH. Those who wished to do so received individual consultations on developing a career path. The interests, skills, values, as well as individual characteristics of people were taken into account.
