Industry, agriculture and investment: how the Tula region is building the economy of the future
On 17
September at the National Centre RUSSIA, during the exposition
"Region-2030. Platform of the Future", the Tula Region Day took
place. In an open dialogue format, Governor Dmitry Milyaev presented the
region’s achievements and development plans up to 2030 with a perspective to
2036.
"We
are an industrial centre. The foundation of our economy is the defence
industry, chemical industry and metallurgy. To these we have added automotive
manufacturing. These sectors will continue to grow, fulfilling the tasks set by
the state," noted the Governor.
Today, the Tula region ranks second in Russia for the share of industry in gross regional product. The industrial production index is steadily rising, and enterprises are showing positive dynamics.
In addition to industry, tourism and the hospitality sector are actively developing. The agro-industrial complex has become a full-fledged driver of growth:
• over the
past ten years, grain production has tripled;
• the
region ranks second in Russia for potato production;
• the Tula
region is among the leaders in rapeseed processing.
The future
task is to expand sown areas to 1 million hectares and to harvest up to 3
million tonnes of grain.
Around 30
residents are implementing projects in the Uzlovaya Special Economic Zone. This
year a plant for oilseed processing has been launched, and preparations are
under way for the production of citric acid. More than 25 projects worth over
100 billion roubles are currently being implemented.
"We
welcome every investor and support projects on a one-stop-shop basis. It is
important to complete all projects already under way and ensure feedback for
business," emphasised Dmitry Milyaev.
Special attention is paid to small and medium-sized enterprises. "A city cannot thrive without trade, cafés and small shops. Supporting SMEs remains a priority," added the Governor. Meetings with governors are held as part of the programme of the National Centre RUSSIA — "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 Steps", which is aimed at achieving national development goals and improving citizens’ quality of life.
Geographer Alexei Vodorezov told guests at the National Centre RUSSIA why nature in Siberia and Alaska is so similar, and how this affected the dispersal of animals and humans.
From 1 to 10 May, the National Centre RUSSIA invites you to join the All-Russian campaign "Memory Wall".
The first performance of the musical and choreographic parable "Khorovod" at the National Centre RUSSIA was attended not only by bearers of Russian culture but also by foreign guests.
