Helping digital algorithms: Alexei Chesnakov on a new career path for philosophers
A modern philosopher is perfectly capable of building a
successful "career" in artificial intelligence. Alexei Chesnakov, the
Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Political Conjuncture, a
Professor at HSE University and a PhD in Political Science, discussed this at a
meeting of the Literary Club "What to Read?!: Meanings" at the
National Centre RUSSIA.
According to Alexei Chesnakov, working as an AI expert is one of the most
sought-after career paths for contemporary philosophers in the United States of
America.
"Today, virtually all major companies developing language models and
artificial intelligence systems, as well as large corporations, employ
philosophers. They help to ‘fine-tune’ artificial intelligence, enable us to
understand how language models work and understand how ethical standards should
be applied amid the inevitable algorithmisation of business and social
processes. Ethics is now one of the most cutting-edge disciplines," said
Alexei Chesnakov.
