Innovations and culture of the ancient land: Day of the Novgorod Region at the RUSSIA EXPO
The RUSSIA EXPO hosted the Day of the Novgorod Region. Visitors were told about the main achievements in education, healthcare and tourism, as well as plans for the development of the scientific sphere and industry.
"Each of us has our own interests and hobbies: tourism, traveling, sports, science. But I am sure that anyone who comes to the ancient Novgorod land will find and discover their own Novgorod region. And will definitely want to come back here. As our President noted: "Veliky Novgorod is the cradle of Russia, the source of our civilization and our state, our culture, enlightenment", — said Governor of the Novgorod region Andrey Nikitin.
According to him, the Novgorod region will be the first region where the project office of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives will be established in 2024. This region is one of the main historical centers of Russia, which is why unlocking its tourist potential bears special significance.
Since 2017, the tourist flow to the region has increased two and a half times and this growth is expected to continue. Novgorod reconstructed Ilyina Street and part of the Alexander Nevsky embankment, built the Sofia embankment, and the reconstruction of the section of the Alexander Nevsky embankment is being finalized to take into account the planned pier.
An innovation center Intellectual Electronics — Valdai which is aimed at the development of the electronics industry has been established in the region. A world-class student campus is under construction in Veliky Novgorod.
Much attention was paid to the culture and traditions of the region. Visitors saw folk traditional costumes of Novgorod residents. And the guests were immersed into the ancient historical atmosphere even more at the masterclass on playing ancient folk instruments, as well as at the performance of the Sadko Novgorod street theater, which showed the scene of Novgorod Bargaining. The youngest guests of the exposition attended an interactive New Year program with Grandpa Treskun and learned how to make Christmas tree toys at the stand of the Novgorod region.
