Representatives of delegations from Myanmar, Cambodia, and Malaysia met with Anna Nesterova, Chair of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance (WBA), on May 16 at the National Centre RUSSIA, during the second day of the II BRICS Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum.

Following the negotiations at the Federation Council between the wife of the Prime Minister of Myanmar, Zhu Zhu Hla, and the BRICS WBA, an agreement was reached to open a regional office of the Alliance in the country’s capital, Naypyidaw. To formalise the agreements, Thet Thet Zin, Chair of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, arrived in Moscow for the II BRICS Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum.

"We agreed with Thet Thet Zin, who came to Russia on behalf of the country’s First Lady Zhu Zhu Hla, that the regional office of the BRICS WBA in Myanmar’s capital will be opened based on the largest women’s association in the country. This cooperation aims to provide a barrier-free environment for women’s entrepreneurship and create conditions for the growth of mutual trade," said Anna Nesterova, Chair of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS WBA.

In turn, Thet Thet Zin, Chair of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, expressed gratitude to the Russian Chapter of the BRICS WBA for the proposed initiative.

"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to open a regional office of the BRICS WBA in our country. We are confident that our cooperation will be fruitful and will help many women entrepreneurs in Myanmar and Russia," said Thet Thet Zin.

For her part, Anna Nesterova emphasised that this year, in addition to BRICS countries and partners, business representatives from the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the CIS have come to the forum.

"The Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum has more than doubled in size in just one year. This time, we have 1,400 participants from over 50 countries," said Anna Nesterova.

Negotiations were also held with delegations regarding the opening of regional offices of the BRICS WBA in Cambodia and Malaysia.

"The opening of regional offices in these countries will take place at the initiative of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS WBA within the Alliance’s strategy to expand trade relations between Southeast Asian countries and BRICS," explained Anna Nesterova.

The Forum is held on May 15–16 at the space of the National Centre RUSSIA.

The general partner of the Forum is PJSC PhosAgro.

The operator of the youth programme of the II BRICS Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum is the ANO "World Youth Festival Directorate" (WYFD).
