Irina Volk: The Motherland begins with a beloved hometown
The Motherland begins with one's hometown, family and the memory of one's ancestors. Irina Volk, Official Representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Police Major General, took part in the National Centre RUSSIA's All-Russian survey "What Does the Motherland Begin With?".
"What does the Motherland begin with? With my beloved hometown. For me, Moscow is not merely a point on the map, but a living thread connecting generations. I was born and raised here, and my children were born here. The Moscow landscapes so dear to my heart were painted with remarkable precision, warmth and love by my father, artist Vladimir Volk. For me, the Motherland is family, friends and the service I love, to which I have devoted my life. The Motherland begins with the first breath, a mother's hands, one's childhood home and a quiet morning prayer. It begins with memory, with the names of our ancestors, with their work and their invisible presence in every choice we make. The Motherland is where the heart responds to the pain and joy of one's compatriots, where another person's fate becomes part of your own. The past does not die, but continues to live through our deeds," said Irina Volk.
She added that as long as this connection with home, people and duty remains in the heart, the Motherland will begin again and again.
The "What Does the Motherland Begin With?" project is implemented by the National Centre RUSSIA with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation. Anyone can take part in the project by sharing their thoughts in a comment or video on the russia.ru website.
