Yugra joins the federal All-Russian Sports Dictation
On 4 October, the All-Russian Sports Dictation, a nationwide
educational initiative of the Russian Olympic Committee, was held at the
National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra. Khanty-Mansiysk was one of five cities linked
by video conference with the National Centre RUSSIA in Moscow. Saint
Petersburg, Sirius and Astana also joined the broadcast.
More than 100 representatives of the region's sports community took part in the
dictation at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra, including athletes, coaches,
representatives of relevant government bodies and students at physical
education institutions.
"It is an excellent format, with lots of young people. It is very
important today that young people develop not only physically, but also know
the history of sport, learn about the founders of different sports and discover
other interesting details. Olympic champions and world champions — opinion
leaders in their respective sports — took to the stage. It is very important for
the younger generation of athletes to see and hear them and to know the legends
of their sport," noted Alexander Gerunov, Deputy Director of the Yugra
Department of Sport, World and European Karate Champion.
This year, one of the participants in the live broadcast from Khanty-Mansiysk
was Konstantin Shikhov, International Master of Sports, Honoured Master of
Sports of Russia in sledge hockey, captain of the Yugra sledge hockey team,
silver medallist at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, and World and
European Champion. He now coaches the Sever sledge hockey team for participants
in the special military operation. During the video conference, Konstantin
Shikhov asked participants in the All-Russian Sports Dictation a question from
Yugra.
During the federal part of the programme, participants answered questions about
different sports, the Olympic movement and the history of sport. Topics
included summer and winter disciplines, team and individual sports, athletics,
aquatic sports, ball games and Paralympic sport.
"It was very interesting to hear about the history of sport and about
athletes during the Sports Dictation. It even made me want to learn more about
cycling and try it myself. I would recommend that everyone come next year and
discover something new — even if you only do sport at an amateur level,"
said Daria Shteinikova, International Master of Sports in deaf swimming.
This year, the All-Russian Sports Dictation is being held at more than 1,400
venues in Russia and abroad. For the first time, participants from Kazakhstan,
Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, China, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and
Turkey have joined the initiative. For the second year in a row, the National
Centre RUSSIA in Moscow is serving as the main venue for the event.
In Yugra, the initiative brought together all 22 municipalities. Seventy venues
were organised across the region. According to figures available at the start
of the event, more than 6,000 people had registered to participate in the
region, including those taking part online.
The All-Russian Sports Dictation is organised by the Russian Olympic Committee
jointly with the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation. The first
dictation was held on 5 October 2025 and attracted more than 250,000
participants online and offline. In Yugra, the initiative was held at 73 venues
across all 22 municipalities and brought together around 7,000 people. The
region ranked sixth among Russia's regions by number of participants.
In 2026, the project's educational programme was expanded to include video lectures featuring renowned athletes. The materials cover various areas of sport and are available on the official All-Russian Sports Dictation website.
