Humor is a sign of intelligence: Dmitry "Goblin" Puchkov meets with guests of the RUSSIA EXPO
In the Literary Lounge of the Russian Society "Knowledge", Exposition guests had the opportunity to interact with blogger, translator, publicist and member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Dmitry "Goblin" Puchkov. As is customary at these meetings, everyone had the chance to ask the speaker questions and join in a lively discussion.
The theme of the Literary Lounge with Dmitry Puchkov was "Talking About the Important Stuff — with Humor". The blogger and writer noted that there is not much humor in Russian literature, but there is one main humorist — Anton Chekhov. According to Puchkov, Chekhov's genius lies not only in his mastery of words but also in his ability to laugh and make others laugh.
"In my opinion, a sense of humor is the foremost sign of developed intelligence. If a person understands jokes and can make jokes themselves, they are undoubtedly intelligent," said Dmitry Puchkov.
Additionally, the event included a discussion about favorite childhood books. Puchkov confessed that he loved the Strugatsky brothers in his youth. He believes that almost all their books can be safely read in childhood. He emphasized that the main lesson they teach is to think not only about oneself but to constantly question what useful things one has done for their family and country as a whole.
Guests at the Literary Lounge asked many questions about Puchkov's work related to translating films and cartoons. Dmitry Puchkov shared his experience and added that he particularly enjoys translating and working with Guy Ritchie's films.
