Handicrafts of the Altai region were presented at the RUSSIA EXPO
In the Department Store space of Pavilion No. 75, craftsmen presented products of folk arts and crafts from the Altai region. Alexei Dorokhov, Director of the I.I. Polzunov Kolyvan Stone Carving Plant, spoke about the samples of Florentine mosaics brought to the Exposition.
"We brought samples of Florentine mosaics, as well as small art products. We will hold a masterclass and show how a mosaic panel is actually assembled. Both adults and children from the age of 13 can take part. Everything is instilled from childhood," noted Alexei Dorokhov.
The Kolyvan Stone Cutting Plant creates works of art from Revnevskaya jasper, marble, porphyrites, gabbro, wax jasper, Beloretsk quartzite and other stones. The technique of stone-cutting art is used for making wall panels, table tops, jewelry boxes, as well as for decorating various elements of furniture.
In turn, Vladimir Moskvitin, the director of the only in Siberia folk art workshop Turina Gora (Turin Mountain), described the technology of making faience painting and told about the uniqueness of the works of the enterprise.
"All our works are unique in that they are author's works. They are not intended for wide sale and are made in very small numbers. We are included in the catalog of the gift fund of the President of the Russian Federation and our products are known all over the world. Painting on faience is a very complicated technological process. Genre compositions on any theme are made. The products are fired at a temperature of 1.2 thousand degrees. And we can say that fire becomes a real co-author of ceramic artists," emphasized Vladimir Moskvitin.
He added that for more than 35-year history of the enterprise a certain dynasty of masters has been built up.
Turina Gora is a place not far from Barnaul, where people have lived since ancient times. Archaeologists found here fragments of ornamented and unornamented ceramics dating back to the Paleolithic period. It was this material that inspired the Turina Gora enterprise to create products reflecting the uniqueness of the Altai region.
