Entrepreneur, politician, public figure, mother — the role
of women in modern Russia was discussed on March 6 at the International RUSSIA
EXPO at the "Knowledge" Society marathon "Women. Innovations.
Technologies. Progress" with the support of the Federation Council of the
Russian Federation and the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. What is
the contribution of women to Russian science and entrepreneurship? How to
balance career and motherhood? - on the eve of International Women's Day, these
and other questions were answered by the marathon participants: heads of major
federal structures, private companies, State Duma deputies, and well-known
representatives of the non-profit sector.
The marathon opened with a panel session on the importance
of women's self-realization for the country's economic growth.
Galina Izotova, Acting Chairwoman of the Accounts Chamber of
the Russian Federation, presented the results of a large study of Russian
legislation on gender equality in the country: "The study showed that
Russian legislation fully provides men and women with equal opportunities to
participate in politics, social sphere, economic, public and cultural life.
Women account for almost half of those employed in the economy, 40 percent are
women entrepreneurs and self-employed. 49 percent of leaders at all levels are
also women. And this is a very high indicator."
She added that the further vector of development of
opportunities for women's self-realization in Russia is defined in the National
Action Strategy for Women, which is implemented through numerous government
programs and projects.

strategy of creating conditions for women, in which they could realize
themselves without restrictions both in profession and motherhood. For this
purpose, a broad system of support has been deployed at all stages of
childbirth and child upbringing, promotion of women's employment, and their
professional training".
